General questions
The official Monte Generoso railway car park is located at Via Segoma 6, 6825 Capolago. As you approach the barrier, it opens automatically and at the cash machine on site or at the ticket office you can purchase a token for the exit: CHF 8 per day.
Pets are welcome both on board our trains and in our facilities (Camping, Buffet Bellavista and Fiore di pietra). Small dogs travel free on the train in the arms of their owners. For medium/large dogs there is a flat-rate ticket of CHF 9 per day. Dogs with a GA pass from SBB travel free of charge.
On the train and inside the Fiore di pietra there is no dress code. Bearing in mind that the summit is at an altitude of 1,704 metres, we recommend dressing appropriately for the versatility of the mountain and consulting the weather forecast before setting off.

Questions for Ferrovia
From 2 December to 31 March 2024, three trains per day run on weekends and holidays. The first departure is from Capolago at 10:05. From Vetta, the last train to descend is at 15:45. During the month of April, three trains run every day. The summer train timetable (4 May-27 October 2024) includes seven trains per day on an hourly basis. The first departure from Capolago is at 10:05 a.m. and the last descent from Vetta is at 5:45 p.m. In case of bad weather, trains do not run.
Our ticket office in Capolago is the main sales point, but simple train tickets can be purchased online at www.sbb.ch. If you are already on site, you can get your ticket at the San Nicolao stop with the conductor (payment in cash); at the Bellavista stop at the Buffet Bellavista and at the Fiore di pietra at the summit.
The round trip ticket from Capolago to the Vetta for an adult in the winter season costs CHF 54 and CHF 72 in the summer season, but there are many promotions and offers we have: discover them now on our website.
Via the online platform www.sbb.ch you can choose the date of your trip up to two months in advance and purchase your Monte Generoso train ticket today. Vouchers or special discounts are valid according to specific arrangements.
Reservations are compulsory for groups of 10 or more. For individuals, we recommend arriving about 20 minutes before the train departs.
The distance between one stop and the next is considered one leg and the ticket price varies according to the desired legs/stops. From the Capolago departure point, the San Nicolao stop follows (1 leg) then the Bellavista stop (2 legs) and finally the Vetta (3 legs).
Our fares are aligned with the SBB age categories and from 16 years of age onwards everyone is considered an adult. However, there are always offers or packages on our website that are worth discovering before you travel.
Yes, the Monte Generoso railway season ticket allows you to go up according to the official timetable as many times as you wish. Trains for evening events, special rides and for the steam train are excluded. Discover the details.
No, day passes issued by SBB or municipalities are not valid.
The journey time for the three sections is 40 minutes.
Questions for restaurants
No, it is not possible to reserve a table at the Self-Service restaurant.
Yes, reservations are recommended for the Fiore di pietra Restaurant.
Questions for the gift cards
Yes, of course. You can purchase a gift voucher of the desired value at the ticket office in Capolago. The gift card can be used for all FMG services and is valid for 5 years.
